Our Vision of the Digital Classroom Students will use technology seamlessly as a regular part of their education Each student will come to class with their own computing device All of the computing devices will be interconnected Teachers and Students will have the skills necessary to use the Hardware and Software

Our Reality Labs within our rooms - 2-3 students per computer Students do not have the skills to use the technology - We need to teach the skills first or in conjunction Students may or may not have access to the internet and other software at home

Pedagogical Foundations –Curriculum must drive the need for technology integration Technology is simply the tool used to facilitate student- centered learning Technology makes it easier to accomplish –Taxonomy of Technology Use 1 Experiencing Informing Reinforcing Integrating Utilizing

The “Normal” Class Hardware –Probes with DataStudio or Logger Pro –Graphing Calculators Software –Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint –Graphical Analysis

The Present and Future BlackBoard Tapped In Podcasting Digital Storytelling Electronic Field Trips Virtual Lab Experiences Portable Probes / Calculators Easy Web Design Student Response Systems (eInstruction) Blogging

Current Projects Chemical Reactions Project –Students create a video and photo presentation of a type of chemical reaction, analyze the stoichiometry of the reaction, and create a presentation to communicate their results. Web Video Project –Students create a video of an example of motion, analyze the motion, and create a website to communicate their findings.
