5 Refunding Money (or Forgiving Debt) via “LEX” request:  LEX = “Letter of Exception”  Student asks the Biz Mgr. to consider giving them a refund or forgive a debt  5 CRITERIA FOR CONSIDERATION  Medical Emergency, Death, Mobilization, College Error, Financial Hardship  CASE BY CASE  One size does NOT fit all! 6 How to avoid “College Error”:  DOUBLE CHECK YOUR SYLLABI  Are the Census Dates correctly listed? Were you clear about attendance or participation thresholds?  CHECK PUBLICIZED INFO  Are all important online/print dates and information correct?  CLASS ROSTER CHECK UP  Is Sally REALLY supposed to be in your class? 8 How to avoid meeting our friendly Parking Enforcement Marshals:  FACULTY/STAFF PERMITS – “A + B” LOTS  Your NOVA Parking permit is your golden ticket; you can park in virtually any space on Campus  DON’T PARK IN LOADING ZONES  Not covered by your permit (Not an A or B area)  HANG UP YOUR HANGTAG!  Easy to forget, but be sure to display your provided hangtag before you exit your vehicle (and take it down before you drive!)  Can also be placed face-up on dashboard BIZ SERVICES OVERVIEW PARKING

9 “FUN” Hangtag facts:  ORDER ONLINE  Only available to order online, ships within 5-7 days. Issues with online ordering? See us in the Parking Office  UP TO THREE  You can register up to 3 cars to your hangtag, though you’re the only one that can drive them in. Great for rental/loaner cars!  WHAT’S LOST CAN BE REPLACED  AN Parking Office (1 st floor CA Building) can re-issue you a lost permit (after processing fee!) 10 What you should know about “other” parking:  STUDENTS = B-Lots or Garage Only  Students will be ticketed for parking in A lot areas w/o a valid hangtag or pass. They may also use the hourly parking garage  VISITORS = “Hourly” Garage or Authorized Pass  Visitors may park in the lower garage levels at an hourly rate. Some visitors may receive temporary parking passes upon request. Parking Office and Biz Manager must approve in advance  CONTRACTORS = See Parking Office  Need to schedule a contractor visit? 12  PICKUP AT THE PARKING OFFICE  All you need is your EmplID and a Gov’t issued ID  EMPLID PRINTED ON CARD  Never forget!  ADD FUNDS FOR ALTERNATE PAYMENT FORM  You can add money to the card and use it all around Campus; Bookstore, Euro Café, Vending machines  Can add funds online or at the Parking Office  DOOR ACCESS  You can use it to swipe into buildings in which you have access  MEDICAL CAMPUS GARAGE  Swipe in at the MEC BIZ SERVICES OVERVIEW NOVACARD

14 Regarding Incidents/Injuries on Campus:  CONTACT CAMPUS POLICE  If you are injured, ask someone to contact Campus Police for you; If you witness an injury, please contact Campus Police directly  FACULTY & STAFF  If you’re injured, contact HR as soon as possible to begin Workman’s Comp process  STUDENTS & VISITORS  The Incident Report Form (105-088) should be filled out and submitted to Business Manager as soon as possible BIZ SERVICES OVERVIEW RISK MANAGEMENT
