1 T.H. BELL JUNIOR HIGH STUDENT PROCEDURES 2014-2015

2 PURPOSE KNOWING AND UNDERSTANDING SCHOOL PROCEDURES WILL HELP YOU FOLLOW SCHOOL RULES, HELPS YOU AND OTHERS STAY SAFE, AND CAN KEEP YOU OUT OF TROUBLE.

3 MINUTEMAN STANDARDS OF CONDUCT EACH STUDENT IS EXPECTED TO: BE PREPARED, ON TIME, AND IN THE RIGHT LOCATION. FOLLOW DIRECTIONS FROM ALL SCHOOL PERSONNEL. RESPECT THEMSELVES, OTHERS, AND THEIR PROPERTY. READ AND COMPLY WITH THE STUDENT HANDBOOK AS WELL AS ALL CLASSROOM RULES AND PROCEDURES.

4 BEHAVIOR AT SCHOOL STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO DEMONSTRATE APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR WHILE ON SCHOOL PROPERTY AND DURING SCHOOL SPONSORED EVENTS. SCHOOL APPROPRIATE LANGUAGE IS EXPECTED AT ALL TIMES. NO RUNNING, PUSHING, TRIPPING, OR HORSEPLAY IS ALLOWED AT SCHOOL. VOICES SHOULD BE AT AN APPROPRIATE SOUND LEVEL IN THE HALLWAYS, RESTROOMS, CAFETERIA, ETC...

5 CLASSROOM STUDENTS SHOULD BE IN THEIR SEATS READY TO LEARN BEFORE THE BELL RINGS FOR EACH CLASS PERIOD. LISTEN AND FOLLOW DIRECTIONS FROM TEACHERS, STAFF, AND SUBSTITUTES. FOLLOW EACH TEACHER’S CLASSROOM RULES. DO YOUR BEST AND ASK FOR HELP IF NEEDED.

6 CAFETERIA HAVE YOUR STUDENT ID WITH YOU EVERY DAY. STUDENTS WITH ID MAY ENTER THE CAFETERIA AND GET IN LINE. STUDENTS WITHOUT ID MUST WAIT AGAINST THE WALL IN THE HALLWAY UNTIL DIRECTED TO GET IN LINE. WAIT YOUR TURN – NO LINE JUMPING! CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF. NOTIFY CUSTODIANS OF SPILLS OR MESSES. USE GOOD MANNERS.

7 LIBRARY NO FOOD OR DRINKS ALLOWED. STUDENT ID REQUIRED TO CHECK OUT MATERIALS. TALK IN A QUIET VOICE. PLACE MATERIALS ON CART TO BE RE-SHELVED. ASK FOR HELP IF YOU CAN’T FIND WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR.

8 RESTROOMS USE APPROPRIATE VOICE LEVEL. USE THE FACILITIES AS NEEDED. FLUSH TOILETS WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED. WASH YOUR HANDS AFTER USING THE RESTROOM. RETURN DIRECTLY TO CLASS.

9 MAIN OFFICE USE APPROPRIATE VOICE. ESPECIALLY IN THE HALLWAY, WE ARE RUNNING A BUSINESS AND NEED TO BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE OUR CUSTOMERS. WAIT TO BE HELPED. TREAT STAFF AND OTHERS WITH RESPECT. RETURN DIRECTLY TO CLASS.

10 COUNSELING CENTER USE APPROPRIATE VOICE. FILL OUT “COUNSELING VISIT REQUEST” IF YOU NEED TO SPEAK TO A COUNSELOR. WAIT TO BE HELPED. STUDENT PHONE IN COUNSELING CENTER MAY BE USED WITH PERMISSION ONLY. RETURN DIRECTLY TO CLASS.

11 COMPUTER LABS NO FOOD OR DRINKS ALLOWED. FOLLOW DIRECTIONS FROM TEACHER OR STAFF MONITOR. COMPUTERS ARE ONLY TO BE USED FOR SCHOOL RELATED EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES. DO NOT ADJUST OR CHANGE ANY COMPUTER SETTINGS OR PROGRAM SETTINGS. INAPPROPRIATE USE WILL RESULT IN LOSS OF SCHOOL COMPUTER PRIVILEGES. DO NOT PRINT WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM THE TEACHER.

12 ASSEMBLIES SIT IN DESIGNATED AREA. USE APPROPRIATE VOICES. SHOW RESPECT BY LISTENING TO PRESENTERS. SHOW SCHOOL SPIRIT AND PRIDE APPROPRIATELY.

13 CELL PHONES STUDENTS MAY USE PERSONAL CELL PHONES IN CLASS WITH TEACHER PERMISSION. CELL PHONES ARE TO BE USED ONLY FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES. MISUSE WILL RESULT IN YOUR PHONE BEING TAKEN FROM YOU AND PLACED SOMEWHERE FOR SAFE KEEPING. REPEATED MISUSE WILL RESULT IN PARENTS HAVING TO RETRIEVE YOUR PHONE FROM THE MAIN OFFICE AFTER MEETING WITH ADMINISTRATION.

14 DRESS CODE STUDENTS MAY WEAR CLEAN CLOTHING WHICH IS APPROPRIATE FOR THE SCHOOL SETTING. CLOTHING THAT MODESTLY COVERS THE BODY. SCHOOL APPROPRIATE SHOES AND FOOTWEAR. STUDENTS MAY NOT WEAR MUTILATED CLOTHING WHICH EXPOSES SKIN UNDERNEATH. CLOTHING THAT REVEALS UNDERWEAR. TANK TOPS, BARE MIDRIFFS, SHORT SHORTS, MINI SKIRTS, “SPAGHETTI STRAP” TOPS, OR SAGGY PANTS. HOUSE SLIPPERS OR PAJAMAS. HATS IN THE BUILDING. CLOTHING PROMOTING TOBACCO, ALCOHOL, OR DRUG USE. GANG RELATED CLOTHING. CLOTHING DEPICTING OR PROMOTING SEXUAL CONTENT, VULGARITY, VIOLENCE, PROFANITY, OR OBSCENITY.

15 VENDING MACHINES ARE PROVIDED AS A CONVENIENCE TO STUDENTS. WHEN STUDENTS ARE USING THEM APPROPRIATELY : WRAPPERS AND CONTAINERS ARE THROWN IN A TRASH CAN AFTER USE. HALLWAYS ARE CLEAN OF SPILLS OR MESSES. STUDENTS ARE NOT TARDY TO CLASSES DUE TO VENDING MACHINE USE. THE VENDING MACHINES WILL BE TURNED OFF WHEN NOT USED APPROPRIATELY.
