2 CSLI Recent Activities Current Client Projects 1. Housing Commission of Anne Arundel County – ongoing for 2010 – Client: Provides housing for low income families and seniors in eight communities – Type of survey: Resident satisfaction and facility condition – used for planning, oversight and HUD accreditation purposes – Methodology: Self-administered at each community. Residents fill them out at the time of contract renewal, producing a quarterly stream of completed surveys for CSLI to use for data entry and report generation. – N=Varies by community – Current status: Waiting for next quarter’s questionnaires. – Income generated: Overall $5100, retained for CSLI operations: $5100. – Students employed: 0-1

Fire Department – Strategic Planning Survey Client: Provides fire and EMT services for county residents – Type of survey: To be defined but includes some citizen awareness, operational trade/off preferences, satisfaction. – Methodology: Telelphone (landline only). – N=Around 400 (target) – Current status: Likely to start at the end of October. – Income generated: Overall $5000, retained for CSLI operations: $750 – Students employed: 10-15

Police Department – Accreditation Survey Client: Provides public safety for county residents – Type of survey: Identical to previous surveys – citizens’ perceptions of police professionalism and effectiveness, seriousness of crimes.. – Methodology: Telelphone (landline only). – N=Around 400 (target) – Current status: Likely to start in mid-February. – Income generated: Overall $5000, retained for CSLI operations: $750 – Students employed: 10-15

City of Annapolis – Citizen Survey Client: Provides government services for city residents – Type of survey: Likely to be combination of citizen satisfaction with services, preferences for planning – Methodology: Telelphone (landline only). – N=Around 400 (target) – Current status: Likely to start in November but still tentative (pending funding). – Income generated: Overall $5000, retained for CSLI operations: $750 – Students employed: 10-15

Radcliff Scholarship Survey of recipients Client: Provides scholarships for students in business school interested in entrepreneurial studies/activities. – Type of survey: Asks about impact of scholarship, recipients’ current circumstances. – Methodology: Mailed. – N=Around 87 – Current status: Ongoing – Income generated: Overall $1600, retained for CSLI operations: $200 – Students employed: 1-2

Coordinating Center Client: Provides medical coordinating services for severely ill patients – Type of survey: Customer satisfaction – Methodology: Mailed with telephone follow-up and second mailing if needed. – N=Around 800 – Current status: Ongoing – Income generated: Overall $2250, retained for CSLI operations: $500 – Students employed: 4-5

CSLI student interns – Fall 2010: Two or three – Hours: vary depending on projects and needs of the moment but goal is to average five hours per week per intern – Duties: range from data entry, student supervision, telephone interviewing and light report editing. – Facebook presence Created jointly by CSLI director and student intern See CSLIAACC on Facebook – become a friend 2. Legislative Interns – Maryland General Assembly

CSLI student club – Inception: 2006 – designated an official student club. – Organizational structure: Officers include president, vice president, secretary and treasurer, elected at beginning of fall semester. CSLI intern usually chosen as club president – Budget: Varies annual – obtained for 2010-11: $1115 from student association. – 2009-10 Activities: Visit to American Political Science Association in Washington DC; planned visits to Baltimore Council of Foreign Affairs.

10 CSLI Recent Activities Recent Public Outreach Radio: WNAV – director was interviewed about CSLI spring research findings. Also on radio Sept. 14 for election analysis. Television: Comcast Local Edition – director discussed CSLI spring research findings. Presentations: Director made presentations to Kiwanis Club of Annapolis. Presentations are anticipated to 32 rd District Democratic Club, Almost 7:30 Dem Club, Annapolis Women’s group. Candidate Forums: October 19 (6-9:30 p.m. Pascal Center/AACC) – county council and county executive race (cosponsoring with Captial and Annapolis and Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce). – Oct. 4: District 30 candidates (Maryland Hall, 7:00 p.m.) CSLI Web site: Posted all new presentations and updates to searchable database (see http://www2.aacc.edu/csli).

11 CSLI Semi-annual Survey Semi-annual Survey and Web Panel Web panel: We have accumulated a total of around 650 possibly valid email addresses. – About 1/3 of respondents accept request to give email addresses. – Will be conducting a fall election oriented online survey. – Response rate typically around 25%.
