Preparing for the Informative Speech The Major purpose of an informative speech is to give clear and correct information to listeners, which will teach them about something. Your listeners should enjoy and be interested in the information you present. Informative speaking is around us. Whenever you hear a report being made, a teacher giving an explanation, or a talk at a group meeting, you are hearing an informative speech. Please remember that the main purpose of speaking to inform is to present information to an audience so that they will understand and remember it.

How To Build Your Framework: Five Key Areas There are five important categories in building your framework: preplanning, attention, interest, desire, and action.

CategoryPresentation Element PreplanningCovers all five elements (Power opener, Connector, Main Body, Power Close, and Audience Questions) AttentionCorrelates with the Power Opener, which secures early attention from audience and builds early rapport. Concludes with the connector, which bridges the Power Opener to the main Body of the talk. InterestBegins with reinforcing the connector and develops into the main body of the presentation DesireStarts with a reinforcement of the main body (facts, figures, and content) and paves the way for the Power Close. ActionFocuses on the Power Close (or what the speaker expects the audience to do) and concludes by setting the stage for the audience questions that will follow the presentation.
