Why buy carbon? Carbon has been around since prehistoric times. Carbon is the basis of all life as it is a part of DNA. It is used in steel making, sugar refining, and printing. It is relatively cheap.

Niblets of Carbon The human body contains about 16 kilograms of carbon in one form or another. It is important environmentally as carbon dioxide; it makes up part of the atmosphere, and plants use it as they grow. It is known as the “king of the elements.”

In 1985 the fullerenes were discovered. Buckminsterfullerenes consisted of “footballs” of carbon atoms.
