So what’s IS6125/IS6145 all about? IS6125 Takes a technology-independent view Conceptually modelling data What is data and why should we care? Why do we need to model it? How to create Entity-Relationship Diagrams (ERDs) How to model data in tabular terms Normalisation

So what’s IS6125/IS6145 all about? IS6126 Gets more hands-on and technology-specific Database technologies Oracle, Access, etc. Structured Query Language (SQL) Semi-structured data and eXtensible Markup Language (XML) Unstructured data and an introduction to Hadoop

IS6125 Course Assessment Continuous assessment: 30 marks Group report – 30 marks (c. 23 rd October) In-class exam – 20 marks (c. 4 th November) Exam: 50 marks
