3. Matthew explicitly says that our purpose in life is to Go and Make Disciples (Matthew 28:20b). John implicitly writes it as Go and Bear Fruit (John 15:16). Matthew gives us Jesus’ promise that assures his presence for our mission. John gives us Jesus’ command that unlocks the power for our mission (John 15:4).

4. Our Lord’s presence and power are conditioned, however, in our “abiding” in him. We must remain in him if we expect to live vital and productive lives.
