Morning Prayers - Monday In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. AMEN (Join me in offering our day to God.) My God, I thank you for the gift of another day to praise you. I offer you all my prayers works, joys, and sufferings today. Amen. (Let us pray for the faithful departed) Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. (Let us pray.) Dear Heavenly Father, grant me the grace to know the difference between right and wrong, and the courage always to do what is right, Through Christ, our Lord. AMEN In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. AMEN (Please stand for the pledge) I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Homework - please write this down in your planner Read through and study the syllabus. There will be a quiz during our next class. Complete and return the last page of the syllabus. Then please set your back pack against the wall in the back and choose a seat. We will have a seating chart tomorrow.

Please take out your notebooks. On the very first page, please copy the following: Purpose Statement This notebook will help me succeed in class. I need to take neat, organized, and detailed notes during class. I need to record our objectives and activities every day. If I take good notes in this notebook and study it for even just 5 minutes every day, I will have a very good chance of getting a good grade.

Work Expectations I will pay careful attention in class: make eye contact with the teacher and listen carefully. I will think about what I am learning and ask questions to help me understand the topic. I will take neat, organized, and detailed notes in my notebook. I will put my best effort into all my assignments.

Notebook Rubric ________ Neat and legible ________Well maintained: not falling apart or have tears. Expectations – How you can be successful Test and Projects/ Quizzes and Exit Tickets: – Make the most of your time in class. Pay attention in class. Take good notes. – Participate in class discussions. This will help you process what you learn and will help the teacher know what you are getting out of the lesson. It will help me help you! – Do your homework well. Don’t just do it for the grade and to get by. The homework has a purpose of helping you learn the material. Make the most of it! – Study, study, study! Use your notebooks! Study every day. Use your study logs! – NEVER BE AFRAID TO ASK THE TEACHER FOR HELP! I am always available to you before and after school and even during lunch if you need extra help understanding the material or have any questions. But you also need to make sure that you are the making the most of your time in class.

Expectations – How you can be successful Homework and classwork – Complete your homework and classwork everyday. If there is a question you don’t understand and you didn’t get the chance to ask me, don’t just leave it blank. Give it a good effort to earn some points. Unanswered questions cannot earn you any points and may even make the assignment count as incomplete. – Put your best effort into all assignments (homework, classwork, activities, etc.). Not only will this get you a good grade, but it is the best way to learn and master the material. Don’t just do things for the grade. Remember, you are here to learn! That should always be your number one academic priority. Don’t just do the minimum to get by. Always challenge yourself to outdo your past efforts. – Pay careful attention to details. Follow expectations and rubrics given: including those for notebooks, projects, assignments, etc.

Expectations – How you can be successful Work Place Points: – Respect all people, including yourself. – Remember: people are here to learn. Always reflect on your behavior and consider if what you are doing is making a helpful contribution to someone’s learning or if you are robbing someone else of their learning time. You are an important person and have a significant impact on our learning community. Whatever you choose to do at any moment makes a big difference to the people around you. Please make the right and loving choice. – Follow classroom procedures and expectations – this will help you make a better contribution to our learning community.

Class Procedures Coming In: 1. Have homework ready for me to check 2. Write down your homework in your planner. 3. Write the date, day, and the objective in your notebook. 4. Work on your Do Now.

Class Procedures Leaving Class: 1. The bell does not dismiss you. The teacher dismisses you. 2. Listen for instructions. Do not get up or begin getting ready while the teacher or a speaker is addressing the class. 3. Make sure you have your homework written down in your planner and anything you'll need to complete it. 4. Do not leave anything inside your desks. Leave your work space neat and clean. 5. Walk out of the room in an orderly manner.

Class Procedures Moving Around the Classroom: 1. While a speaker is addressing you, do not leave your desk unless it is an emergency or absolutely necessary for you to continue taking notes. 2. Throwing away trash, going to the bathroom, etc. needs to wait until the speaker is done addressing the class. 3. Make sure you bring at least two sharpened pencils/pens to class so that you do not have to get up and disrupt the class while a speaker is talking. FAILURE TO FOLLOW CLASS PROCEDURES COULD RESULT IN A DEMERIT.
