2 Why the Web Site To facilitate communication between The Board, Management and the Residents Educate and Inform Give insight to the residents of the goals and accomplishments of their Board Keep Residents informed on the work of their Association committees Keep Residents informed on the social activities within the community Have a place were the Clubs can reach out to the community informing them of their activities

3 Who will be able to update the web site Those with userids and passwords Who will be capable of getting userids and passwords One set of userids and passwords will be issued to each Committee One set of userids and passwords will be issued to all clubs requesting a page on the site The committees and Clubs can make their userid and password available to additional members who will assist in updating and maintaining their pages Updating and Maintaining the Web Site

4 How to get a userid and Password Get the approval of the Committee or Club you belong to Create a generic YAHOO email account ex. gomensclun@yahoo.comgomensclun@yahoo.com Send the approved request to the Chair and/or Vice-Chair of the Web Site Committee Your email account will be set up within the web site control area An email will be sent to the email account set up above with an invitation to activate the account Follow the simple instructions in that email Your account will then be activated Take the web site updating and maintenance class or if no class is scheduled the web site committee will set up an individual training class Your good to go

5 What you can and cannot do What you can do You may only update your Committee/Club pages You may add text and photos to your pages You may create links to approved web sites You may link to flyers/documents that reside on the computer that you are updating from What you cannot do Post political information Post off color photos or text Links to unapproved web sites Post to pages that do not belong to your Committee/Club The web site is regularly reviewed by the web site team and If the rules above are not followed your userid and password will be deactivated. Thus, your ability to update and maintain your pages will be suspended

6 Architecture Updating and maintenance to the web page is performed by the User on a local device. PC, tablet, laptop, etc. Data to be transferred to the web site resides on the local device Once the web site pages are updated and posted the data is transferred to the ISP servers and will reside their until deleted/changed by the user at the local site User ISP (Internet Service Provider) (Server)

14 Publish When all updating to the page is complete Publish to web site Preview Preview update in web browser Save Saves your update but Does not Publish Main Navigation Bar Information Area

16 Adding Text Place curser where you want text to appear Type your text If Placing text from a word processor like Microsoft word Highlight the text in the word document Right click mouse and click copy Place curser on the web page where you wish to place the copied data Right click mouse and click paste Use these tools to manipulate text as you would in your word Processor. Size, bold, alignment, etc.

17 Add Photos Place curser where you want the picture to appear on your page Click the camera (image) icon at the top left of the screen The dialog box will appear How would you like your photo to be aligned. Select one of the boxes here Always have the resample image on. This will let the software optimize the picture size for the web Selecting this box will allow the user to enlarge the photo when he/she is viewing the page Click Browse at the top right of the page than Please continue to the next page

18 Add Photos Once you click on the Browse box this sub-screen will be displayed Find your photo and select it Click on open or double click the selected photo When the sub-screen disappears and your selected path to your video appears in this box Click on the ADD button at the bottom of the page Your selected photo will appear at the spot you have selected on the web page. This loading may take a few minutes depending on the size of your photo and the speed of your computer and the ISP ( Internet Service Provider) Double lick on the photo and handles will appear. Use these handles to adjust the photo to your licking.

19 Adding a Link Select where on the page you want the link instructions to appear Type in your instructions or highlight exiting text Once you complete the steps above click link and the link box will appear Click the new page button. This is a requirement. Simplifies navigation for the user The dialog box will show 4 options Another web site A page on my site An email address A document or other file We will only concern ourselves with option 4 “A document or other file” Click this button and Please turn the page

20 Add a Link Once the “A document or other file” button is clicked” the dialog box will change Click the Browse button and a sub dialog box will appear Find the document you want to link too and highlight it Click open or double click the highlighted file Once the sub dialog box disappears and the path of the selected file appears in the Browse box Click the add button at the bottom of the main dialog box The link will show up on your web page underlined. This may take a few minutes depending of the size of the file, your computer and/or your ISP Note: Before linking to the selected flyer or document file you should save it as an Adobe.PDF file. Almost all users will have the ability to read these files.

21 Remember The Data is Yours The overall design, navigation And format is ours Update only generic data Update only your pages Do not navigate to other areas of the update and maintenance web site IF YOU FAIL TO FOLLOW THE RULES YOU WILL LOSE YOUR PRIVELEGES
