Single zone systems are 1 to 1 matched sets with Wall Hung indoor unit only. Single Zone Systems Simple installation Flare connections Pre-charged condenser Minimum maximum pipe length.
9
Solar Hybrid system is an inverter heat pump and can be fully powered with 1150 Watts from solar panels Solar Hybrid System
10
Flex-Match Offering – 2 to 5 Zones Mix and match indoor styles
11
Flex Match Matrix
12
U-Match – Large Capacity Single Zone 1 to 1 Match - Cassette, Ducted, or Floor Ceiling type indoor unit
13
All indoor units come with wireless remote control (except ducted units) Ducted units come with wired controller All indoor units can be connected to wired controller but may still use remote Wired controllers use 18 gauge thermostat wire Controls
14
Nomenclature Nomenclature can help quickly determine if OU and IU are compatible.
15
Systems are designed for optimum performance within specified parameters Installation Considerations Multi zone systems use the same specifications for pipe length as single zone systems. There can be slight variations in the specification tables.
16
Flex-Match Piping Flex-Match provides long piping connections for easier installation. Max pipe length: 263 ft. Max height dif. BTW indoor units: 25 ft. Max height dif. BTW outdoor and indoor units: 50 ft. Max length from outdoor to farthest indoor: 66 ft. Y-Branch Connector 4 service valves for easy installation

Invest in the Right Tools - Doing the job right is nearly impossible if you don’t have the right tools. Installation Tools Flare Nut Torque Wrench – Torqueing to proper specs is essential to a quality installation. Otherwise, leaks can occur over time with expansion and contraction. Multi-Meter with Diode Setting and Needle Probes – The ability to check diode functionality is essential to the troubleshooting process. Standard meter probes cannot get into small harness casings. 45° Flaring Tool - Mini-splits use flare connections. Systems only equipped with a small strainer to keep large debris out of the compressor. We do not allow soldering because debris can plug the strainer or damage the compressor. We do not allow filter dryers. SC440 45° Orbital Flaring Tool Flare Nut Torque Wrench Set

Installation Step-By-Step STEP 1 - Mount Condenser STEP 2 - Mount Indoor Unit STEP 3 - Connect Piping, Wiring & Drain STEP 4 - Torque Flare Fittings STEP 5 - Nitrogen & Bubble Leak Test STEP 6 - Vacuum Test STEP 7 - Open Service Valves and Test Operation STEP 8 - Cover Lines Installation Techniques
19
Installation techniques are basically the same for all residential and light commercial products. There are several industry companies making products that cater to the ductless market. We are partnering with some as “Accessory Partners” to assist with installations and provide technical expertise.
20
Troubleshooting Standard Questions: 1.Is the product registered for warranty? 2.Have you been through Nortek ductless training? 3.What is the nature of problem? 4.Does your indoor unit match outdoor unit? 5.Did you remove plastic plug in line set? 6.Did you purge with nitrogen and bubble leak test? 7.Did you pull a sufficient vacuum and leak test? 8.Is wiring uniform? 9.Is power supply appropriate and sufficient? 10.Are the IU and OU communicating? 11.Is piping within minimum maximum allowable lengths? 12.Did you add refrigerant, if so, how much? 13.Are you getting an error code? 14.Did you power unit before opening the service valves? 15.Did you use a 45° flaring tool? 16.Did you use a flare nut torque wrench?
