3. Help Our Children Grow Dear Parents/ Guardians, On May 23, 2011 in the gymnasium, we will be holding our annual used book fair. It begins at 10 a.m. and will continue until 2 p.m. There will be books ranging in price from.25 cents to 10 dollars. All are welcomed to participate and if you have any further questions, feel free to contact your child’s teacher.

4. Setting up Request/find book donations Inform teachers about fair Recruit workers – Cashier – Book readers – Clean-up committee – Fair guides Prepare location – Have books in locations that are accessible to the intended population of children – Set-up tables

5. Gathering the audience Have a varied selection of books Small group visits – Exposes subsets of students to reading material that is at their level of understanding Book readers engaging kids by: – Talking about different books – Reading a variety of books to the children

6. Benefits of book fairs Economical – Cheap! They contain a variety of books in one location They encourage children to read Engage children

7. Importance of Reading Exposure to print facilitates learning to read Without the ability to read children are not able to live up to their full potential – Can’t drive cars – Can’t ride buses – Can’t text – Can’t progress successfully through school
