Qualifications-Education  When becoming an Occupational Therapist you would need to follow these steps:  Step 1: Earn an Associates or a Bachelors degree  Step 2: Earn a masters or doctorate degree  Step 3: Pass the NBCOT exam  Step 4: apply for the license.  Depending on the degree you want to maintain it will take longer for you to actually have your license to become an occupational therapist. It you only have an associates degree then you will only be an assistant. 14. What we thought….  From this project we have learned the differences/ similarities with being an occupational and physical therapist. They both allow you to work hands on with a patient but, both will also test your skills as well. With being a physical therapist and an occupational therapist you would need to learn how to be patience and not get angry when the patient you are working with doesn’t catch on as fast as you would like them to. Something that we found interesting was the amount of available jobs that each have available. Some questions that we had was where did physical/ occupational therapy actually come from? Who was the first person to actually undergo physical/ occupational therapy.
