2 Warm-up Describe some things you did over the summer that were made possible by the use of math. Explain how you think math was involved. Use complete sentenced.

Real numbers, Ratios & Rates & Proportions, Angles, 2 & 3- Dimensional Figures, Linear Equations, Statistics & Probability A Basis for Higher Level Math - You will need more math to graduate from high school A Basis for G8 Science A Basis for the type of math all adults use in home and work

4 Who am I? Mrs. Keller 7 years teaching Grade 7 Math
Degree in Computer Science, which requires a lot of math 22 years writing computer software and network management software

6 Breakdown of the Year 6 Unit, each about 5 weeks long Quizzes (20 min)
Test (45 min) Practical Applications Thinking Problems Math notebook, 8 ½ X 11 spiral notebook with a pocket, dedicated to math class – this will be graded MARS assessment Tests

7 Homework About 1 to 10 problems
25 minutes a night. Prorated with parent signature. Show your work for full credit. Readable, you may use a computer to write the equations. Late fee of 25% per day. Two one day late passes per trimester.

8 Projects Projects are a way to look deeper into the applications of math. Past projects include: Octahedron Scale model Buying an expensive object Tessellation

9 Wait, What Happened to the Book?
The book we used last year does not align to the Common Core Standards There is no book available that does. We have not textbook this year. Take good notes. Keep track of your handouts. If you want to borrow the old textbook for reference, sign up for one. I will see about putting lectures online for future references.
