8. PARCC Assessments In 2014-15 these will replace the ISAT (Illinois Standards Achievement Test) There will be a beginning of the year test and end of the year test. There may also be some during-the-year tests (?) All done online (it is not our job here, today, to figure out how to get enough computer and bandwidth to make this happen) Students will need to practice online. PARCC does provide an email newsletter.

PARCC Item and Task Prototypes PARCC does provide a PowerPoint describing their assessment approach, including “shifts and assessment advances for Mathematics.” Go to the website. – Some items developed by PARCC (and more coming out this summer) – Some items developed by the Dana Center (at UT - Austin)

13. Illinois Model Curriculum State Law (2011) stated that a model curriculum would be developed. Developed in Fall 2012 and finished in early 2013. Being approved by the State Legislature. Will go on the ISBE website soon, as a recommendation. Developed for grades 6, 7, and 8, and HS Math 1, Math 2, and Math 3. Math 1, 2, and 3 are integrated courses.

15. The big question is  Is the state going to require one test (and which one Traditional or Integrated?) or Will individual school districts get to choose? PARCC is writing (and will make available) two sets of tests for HS mathematics for 2014-15. Traditional (Alg. I, Geometry, Alg. II) Integrated (Math 1, Math 2, Math 3)
