2. Welcome to Year 5 Introduction Literacy and Maths Topics to be covered Behaviour and class rules Homework and spellings P.E and swimming

3. Literacy School Children stay in their own classes. (Mixed ability) Narrative unit of work. Guided reading Home Reading books. Spellings. Literacy homework.

4. Maths School Children are grouped. Mental warm ups, teacher led activity, group activities. Home Times tables. Number bonds. Maths homework.

5. Topics Ancient Egypt. Science- Electricity. Music. PE (indoor and outdoor) RE MFL- year one Spanish.

6. Behaviour and Class Rules Golden rules. Class charter, which is agreed and signed by the children. Goldentime is earned as a whole class. Goldentime reward is agreed on at the beginning of the week. Visual reminders, pegs are moved as an indication of individual behaviour. Clear sanctions and rewards. Whole school approach.

7. Homework and Spellings Spellings have been given out to the children and are kept in their spelling folders. They go out on a Monday and are tested the following Monday. Sets could change in the following weeks. One piece of Literacy and one piece of Maths homework a week. Homework goes out on a Wednesday and is returned on a Monday. Children should spend no longer than half an hour on each piece.

8. PE and Swimming Outdoor PE is on a Wednesday. Children will need suitable kit and trainers. All jewellery must be taken off. Earrings out if possible. No earrings for swimming. Swimming is on a Thursday afternoon. We need volunteers to help with swimming, if you could help please see me afterwards. Thank you! After half term, our swimming session becomes indoor PE.

9. Information Please complete photo permission forms and home school agreement. Open door policy, please feel free to make an appointment to see me if you have any queries/concerns. Information displayed and letters sent out. Website is up and running!
