Mission: –To encourage all Canadians to live active and healthy lives through the promotion of and advocacy for inclusive active living opportunities at the grass-roots level.

Utilize the strength of the ALACD at a national, provincial and local level –Our strength lies in the people; over 1.5 million across Canada belong to the ALACD network. Appeal directly to Canadians with a Disability Appeal to our partners and support organizations Advocate for and support direct intervention

Active Living Alliance www.ala.ca for Canadians with a Disability History of MTI Developed by ALACD and their partner organizations in 1994 The program includes 8 comprehensive resource binders and 1 abridged version. The abridged version was sent to every school in Canada in 1995.

Ensure that your community recreation facilities have a solid, written policy for inclusion within their programs and back it up with ACTION.

Active Living Alliance www.ala.ca for Canadians with a Disability Making a difference… Ensure that your staff/co-workers have an inclusion attitude. –Invite ALACD’s Inclusive Physical Education Coordinator to facilitate a workshop for your staff/co-workers Market your services to persons with a disability Invite persons with a disability to sit on advisory councils Become involved in the ALACD-Ontario network
