History of the computer In 1947 the Transistor was invented and replaced the vacum tube. The transistor was smaller and was far more reliable than the vacum tube were. In 1958 the Integrated circuit was developed, by using two or more transistors and placing them on a peace of silicone. With the invention of the Integrated circuit it paved the way or the development of the microprocessor. With out the invention of the transistor the technology used to make smart phones, MP3 players and the home computer wouldn’t exist.

CPU The CPU or the Central Processing Unit is used to connect peaces of the computer together. Like the microprocessor, hard drive, and any thing that plugs in to the UPS on the computer like, minces and keyboards. The CPU uses the bus in the computer to do this.

Video Card The video card in your computer terns the binary data from the CPU and terns it into a picture that can be seen on the computer monitor. The monitor is made up of millions of pixels that create the picture on the monitor screen.

CD- ROM The CD-Rom is used to read the data stored on CDs, it is also use to up load data and programs to your computer. The CD-Rom has three major components that allow the CD- Rom to work, a drive motor, a tracking mechanism and a laser.

RAM The Random access memory (RAM) is used to store data so it can be accessed later. The (RAM) can also help search for data with in your computer.

Hard Drive The hard drive stores data on a computer and is connected to the motherboard. Just about every computer devise from the desktop computer to the supercomputer has one or more hard drive to store data.

USB Port The Universal Serial Bus (UPS) is used to connect different accessories to your computer, like mouse, printers and other things. The (UPS) connects straight to the computers operating system.

PCI Card The PCI card works with the PCI bus. The PCI bus connects components of your computer to your computer’s processor. With a PCI bus, it allows you to add interchangeable parts to your computer like more graphics cards so you can have more than one monitor on your computer.

Motherboard The motherboard connects all the other components of your computer together, this allows all of the components of your computer to communicate with each other. The motherboard also provides the power that all of the components of your computer needs to operate.

Power Source The power supply converts the (AC) power or alternating current in your home into (DC) or direct current to power your computer. So in other words with out the power supply all your computer is a dark screen.
