4 Collection of data  All catches from Icelandic fishing vessels are weighed and recorded at the port of landing  The port authorities record the catch in a computer and send it at the end of the day to the Directorate’s of Fisheries database

5 D I R E C T O R A T E O F F I S H E R I E S Collection of data There are approx. 85.000 landings registered in the system every year 50 Ports of landings in Iceland send electronic data daily to the Directorate of Fisheries

6 D I R E C T O R A T E O F F I S H E R I E S Processing and distribution of data  The data is processed in the Directorate’s database and catches are subtracted from the vessels’ quotas  With up to date catch figures the Directorate can act quickly if vessels have overfished their quotas  The data is processed in the Directorate’s database and catches are subtracted from the vessels’ quotas  With up to date catch figures the Directorate can act quickly if vessels have overfished their quotas  The Statistics Iceland receives copies of the data for the production of statistics on the economy

9 D I R E C T O R A T E O F F I S H E R I E S When the name of the vessel appears on the screen the user can choose from:  List of all landings  Detailed catch report  List of all landings  Detailed catch report  List of transferred quotas  Quota status  List of transferred quotas  Quota status Information on individual vessels Furthermore the user has the possibility to find out how new info. can effect the quota status of a vessel

Excess catches can result in a revocation of fishing licences and fines
