New York is the most populous city in the United States New York City consists of five boroughs which were consolidated in 1898: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island. With a 2010 United States Census population of 8,175,133 the city has been home to several of the tallest buildings in the world.

New York City is located in the northeastern United States, in southeastern New York State, approximately halfway between Washington, D.C. and Boston. The Hudson River flows through the Hudson Valley into New York Bay
