4 M/455 EN Standardisation mandate to CEN, CENELEC and ETSI on a common Charging Capability for Mobile Telephones Description of the mandated work The Commission requests CEN, CENELEC and ETSI to perform the following work: 1. To develop a European standard(s) enabling interoperability between a Common EPS and data-enabled mobile telephones, on the basis of the technical specifications to be annexed to the MoU 2. To check the existing body of standards for EPS and charging functions of mobile phones in order to, by way of revision or development, make available European standards that may provide presumption of conformity of the Common EPSs and of mobile telephones with EMC, LVD and R&TTE Directives

5 IEC TC 100 projects IEC 62637-1: 2mm barrel battery charging interface for small hand held multimedia devices - Part 1: Specification Scope: defines a charging interface between small hand held multimedia devices and power-supply accessories, specifically chargers. Devices, which could use this standard, for example, are mobile phones, MP-3 players, portable radio receivers or small hand-held TV receivers. Devices like GPS- navigators, gaming devices, digital cameras etc. may also use this interface if the delivered power is adequate. IEC 62637-2: 2mm barrel battery charging interface for small hand held multimedia devices - Part 2: 2 mm barrel type interface conformance testing Scope: provides the conformance testing rules and guidelines for equipment built to meet the 2 mm barrel type charging interface specified in the 62637-1. PWI 100-1642: Micro USB battery charging interface for small hand-held multimedia devices

The USB-IF provides this statement specifically as agreement for inclusion of the following USB documents as normative reference in the IEC 62637-1 standard. The USB-IF is honored to have its publications be considered as normative references in IEC standards and requests that USB-IF specifications be regarded as normative references going forward.
