2. Death of Charlemagne a. Sons were poor rulers -Fought over land -Divided Europe into 3 Kingdoms -France, Germany & Austria II. Germanic Tribes in Britain 1. Angles, Saxons & Jutes a. Invaded Celts -King Arthur (Celtic King) -defeated in 550 AD -Moved Celts to Ireland b. Angles, Saxons & Jutes -took control of Britain -renamed it England -created English language King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table
