2 Salient Features School bus/ School cab to be painted in yellow color
School bus driver should have 5 years driving experience and a badge The school bus shall carry fire extinguisher, first aid box The vehicle to carry list of students. There must be a Fire Extinguisher in the Bus. First-Aid box must be kept & checked. School Name and Telephone No. must be written on the Bus. 2

3 Salient Features (2) Every school bus to provide attendant and a lady attendant in case school bus carrying girl child Speed Governor should be installed. "School Bus" must be written on the back and front of the Bus. If it is a hired bus, "On School Duty" should be clearly indicated The windows of Bus must be fitted with horizontal grills. To keep School Bags safely, there should be a space fitted under the seats. 3

4 Salient Features (3) The doors of the Bus should be fitted with reliable locks. School Bus should only stop at designated School Bus stops. There must be an Attendant from the School in the Bus. School children should only be handed over to the child’s parent/guardian. If the parent/guardian is not available to collect the student, the child should be brought back to the school. Any parent/guardian or a teacher may also travel to ensure these safety norms. 4

5 Student Pickup & Drop Policy
From Home to Bus: Parent/guardian to stand at the designated stop. Bus attended to take the sign in the bus register form the parent while taking the child in the bus. From Bus to School: Bus attendant to line up the children and then drop the children to their respective classrooms. While dropping to the class, teacher to take sign in from the bus didi.

6 Student Pickup & Drop Policy (2)
From School to Bus: Bus attended to have a placard of the bus route number in her hand. Bus attendant to take the child from the class or the holding area depending on the number of children in the school. Bus attendant to sign out while picking the child from the teacher at school. From bus to home: Bus attendant handover the child only after the parent has reached the bus stop. Bus attendant to check the parent smart card before handover of the child. If parent/guardian is not present, the child is to be brought back to the school.

7 PATTERN FOR TAKING CHILDREN SAFELY TO AND FROM THE BUS
1.Bus attendant to ask the children to make butterfly hands and take them in a line. No holding each others bags or shoulders. 2. Bus attend to sing the song which the children sing in school too: “Walking walking on the floor, keep on walking one step more, little children move nice and slow, lets line up its time to go”.

8 SITTING POSITION OF THE LADY BUS ATTENDANT IN THE BUS
1. The bus attendant to be seated on the first left hand seat with her body and face -facing on the right side so that she can have a complete view of the children at any given point of time.

9 Some rules to adhere: Bus attendant not to accept any kinds of sweets or food items from the parents for distribution to the children without HM prior permission. Bus attendant and driver not to allow any outside male to enter the bus and travel in the bus at any given point of time. If any un forseen event happens while children are in the bus like accident etc, immediately bus attendant to call the HM and inform for further guidance. If a parent has forgotten smart card then bus attendant to call the HM and inform and take the parent signature in the register and make the parent write that he/she has forgotten smart card today and has picked the child from the bus without the smart card. HM to simultaneously confirm with the other parent eg- if father comes- call the mother to confirm , of mother comes- call the father to confirm of handover.
