Unit 1 Relationships Between Quantities and Expressions Week 3 Lesson 5 Unit Conversations
2
Today’s Objectives A.CED.1 – Create equations in one variable and use them to solve problems. (integer inputs only) N.Q.2 – Define appropriate quantities for the purpose of descriptive modeling. Given a situation, students will determine, identify and use appropriate quantities for representing the situation. N.Q.3 – Choose a level of accuracy appropriate to limitations on measurement when reporting quantities Focus Standard - N.Q.1 – Students will use units of measure as a way to understand problems Objective: Students will
3
Essential Questions Why do we have different forms of measurement? When would you need to convert from one unit to another?
4
Vocabulary Words Dimensional analysis is a process that uses rates to convert measurements from one unit to another. A rate such as in which the two quantities are equal but use different units, is called a conversion factor. To convert a rate from one set of units to another, multiply by a conversion factor.
