Segregated Schools In most cases, segregated schools for black students were far inferior to the schools for white students. States spent less money on black schools than white schools. Many civil rights activists fought against segregated schools.

Sweatt v Painter 1950- Thurgood Marshall and the NAACP argued against in the Supreme Court against segregated schools. The court ruled that the University of Texas black law school was inferior to its white law school. This forced the nations graduate and professional schools to integrate Integrate- to bring together people of different races

Brown v Board of Education Challenged whether segregated schools were constitutional 1954- the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously ruled that the “separate but equal” doctrine in the nations’ public schools was unconstitutional and illegal.
