7 Eurostat statistics on ICT use Eurostat statistics on ICT use Coherent with policy objectives They cover use in the economy and more in general in the society Questionnaires built upon the I2010 framework The result of cooperation between users (policy developers) and statisticians Partly financed by the EC through annual grants The coordination at EU level

8 Eurostat surveys on ICT use Eurostat surveys on ICT use Statistics have to be delivered based on legal obligations: IS Framework Regulation 808/2004 (scope, subjects, financing, data transmission) Annual Implementing Regulation (list of indicators, breakdowns…)

9 Indicators and questionnaires: Indicators and questionnaires: Questionnaires: made up of core indicators and special modules Questionnaires: model questionnaire in EN which is translated into national languages Indicators: defined through a discussion between users and NSIs Users: give political priorities and subjects to be covered Statisticians: find the appropriate methodological solutions Exchange of proposals and opinions is done both through meetings and electronically The coordination at EU level

12 A positive balance A positive balance timely, good quality and harmonized statistics on ICT use in the EU are available for users Crucial elements for success: Crucial elements for success: Regular exchange of information and views between users and producers Exchange of best practices among countries Clear definitions Different stages of ICT diffusion throughout the EU taken into account Balance between the need of coherence and that of improving the framework Availability of a model questionnaire to achieve higher harmonisation.
