3 Musical Connection Assignment Remember to use CEI for in EACH paragraph: Claim: Should be your first sentence introduce your claim/topic sentence/thesis Evidence: 1+ line from song 1+ line from Beowulf Introduce all quotes with lead-ins Don’t forget to CITE! Interpret: 4-5 sentences of explanation Connect the dots for your reader SHOW your thinking Be convincing! Other Criteria 1 vocab word per paragraph, underlined. 1 higher-level sentence per paragraph, underlined. MLA format “Song Titles” (quotation marks) Epic Poems (italics) Don’t forget: “lines of poetry that break / On to the next line look like this” (47-8).
