The History! In 1647, Oliver Cromwell passed a law stating that Christmas would be illegal through all of the United Kingdom. The law was finally lifted when Cromwell lost power in 1660. {1551-today} The Holy And Fasting Days Law- All citizens must attend a Christian church and has to travel on foot, not using any vehicle on Christmas Day. 13% of all citizens in the United Kingdom attend church every year.
