News and Ideas Stay on top of the issues and ahead with our recent announcements or visit our Newsroom For Scientists from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Ukrainian and Uzbekistan New Grain Storage Technologies(13/14) An engineer and scientist, Project Manager Dr. Vitaly Danchenko, worked on rocket launch systems during the Soviet period in the 1980s. Since 1993, he has conducted research into grain storage techniques and has been developing grain silos and complexes for the Ukrainian market.Solving the issue of storing collected grain harvests is of strategic importance to Ukraine since significant losses (approximately 30%) of the grain harvest are typically experienced due to the absence of accessible, effective moist grain storage technologies in both private farms and state grain elevators. Technique for the Remote Detection of Nuclear Warheads and Explosives(10/14) The city of Kharkiv has always been an important center for the study of nuclear physics and it was in Kharkiv on October 10, 1932 that the Soviet Unions first nuclear reaction took place. During the Soviet era, the High Current Electronics Laboratory of V.N. Karazin Kharkov National University conducted work for the USSR Ministry of Defence on modeling of various nuclear reactions. However, after the collapse of the USSR, the laboratorys staff were left unemployed since their funding, which came directly from Moscow, dried up. A problem arose in finding an application for the laboratorys cumulative experience for applied scientific R&D. It was at this time that two projects were submitted to a competition announced by the STCU. Both of the projects were funded
