Summary Check out Brain Pop at Brain Pop CELLS Brain Pop is a MmLE that incorporates videos as a tool to teach subjects such as Math, Science, Social Studies and English. The certain subject that this MmLE will be about is Science, specifically Cells. Under the subject Science, click on “Cells” You have many options on your next step. You can: Play a movie Take a quiz Explore related topics Engage in activities Q & A’s NYS Standard CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.4.7 Interpret information presented visually, orally, or quantitatively (e.g., in charts, graphs, diagrams, time lines, animations, or interactive elements on Web pages) and explain how the information contributes to an understanding of the text in which it appears

Cells Video This Brain Pop video introduces two characters, Tim and Moby. They introduce to you how all living things are made of one or more cells and that these are the building blocks of life. Tim and Moby then take a walk through the different parts of a cell and their functions. What is a cell?

Analyzing MmLE Referring back to Moreno and Mayer, they defined generative processing as “making sense of the new information, such as the process of mentally organizing the new information into coherent structure and integrating the new knowledge representations with prior knowledge”. The video on Brain Pop categorizes the information starting with the simplest parts of the cell to the functions that each part of the cell takes place.
