INCOME DISTRIBUTION JANUARY 19 TH, 2015
2
IN CANADA’S ECONOMIC SYSTEM HOW IS INCOME DISTRIBUTED? INCOME IS DISTRIBUTED AMONG THE DIFFERENT FACTORS OF PRODUCTION: LAND, LABOUR, CAPITAL, AND ENTREPRENEURIAL ABILITY. WORKERS GET PAID WAGES BASED ON THESE FACTORS.
3
WHAT ARE THE DRAWBACKS OF CANADA’S METHOD FOR DISTRIBUTING NATIONAL INCOME? WAGES ARE NOT ALWAYS DETERMINED FAIRLY. FACTORS SUCH AS AGE, RACE, CULTURAL BACKGROUND, GENDER, ETC. OFTEN PLAY A ROLE. IT IS EASY FOR THOSE WITH THE MOST WEALTH TO GAIN MORE COMPARED TO THOSE AT THE BOTTOM. UNEVEN DISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH CAN LEAD TO SOCIAL ISSUES (CRIME, ETC.)
4
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF CANADA’S METHOD FOR DISTRIBUTING NATIONAL INCOME? PROVIDE INCENTIVE FOR WORKERS TO WORK HARD AND INCREASE THEIR SALARY. REWARDS THOSE WHO TOOK THE TIME AND EFFORT TO IMPROVE THEIR TRAINING (INCLUDING EDUCATION). MARKET CONTROL OF WAGES LET GOVERNMENT HAVE LESS OPPORTUNITY TO 'MESS THINGS UP.'
5
USING TABLE 8.2 ON PAGE 163, WHAT COMMONALITIES CAN BE FOUND BETWEEN CANADA’S HIGHEST PAYING JOBS? WHAT COMMONALITIES CAN BE FOUND BETWEEN CANADA’S LOWEST PAYING JOBS? WHAT DIFFERENCES EXIST BETWEEN THE HIGHEST AND LOWEST PAYING JOBS? HIGHEST PAYING JOBS ARE MOSTLY SKILLED JOBS THAT REQUIRE SIGNIFICANT TRAINING. DOMINATED BY MEN. LOWEST PAYING JOBS DO NOT REQUIRE SIGNIFICANT TRAINING. MOSTLY WOMEN.

INLAND-COASTAL INEQUALITY RESEARCH ON ECONOMIC GROWTH AFTER THE OPENING OF THE CHINESE ECONOMY HAS SHOWN THAT BETWEEN 1989 AND 2004, INCOME IN COASTAL PROVINCES MORE THAN TRIPLED INLAND PROVINCES DOUBLED. GEOGRAPHY

EDUCATION. SOME PEOPLE HAVE HIGHER INCOMES THAN OTHERS DO BECAUSE THEY OBTAINED A HIGHER LEVEL OF EDUCATION.. SOME PEOPLE HAVE HIGHER INCOMES THAN OTHERS DO BECAUSE THEY OBTAINED A HIGHER LEVEL OF EDUCATION. THUS THEY ARE PUT IN BETTER POSITIONS TO GET HIGHER PAYING JOBS THAT REQUIRE HIGHER LEVELS OF SKILLS. THUS THEY ARE PUT IN BETTER POSITIONS TO GET HIGHER PAYING JOBS THAT REQUIRE HIGHER LEVELS OF SKILLS.

DEMOGRAPHIC CHANGE ACCORDING TO RESEARCH PUBLISHED IN THE CHINA ECONOMIC REVIEW, POPULATION AGING IS “LARGELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SHARP INCREASE IN INCOME INEQUALITY IN RURAL CHINA,” ESPECIALLY AT THE BEGINNING OF THE 2000S
13
SO IS THE REAL DIVIDE IN CHINA BETWEEN COASTAL AND INTERIOR, RATHER THAN URBAN AND RURAL? CHINESE ECONOMIC STATISTICS DON'T ADEQUATELY ACCOUNT FOR INTERNAL MIGRATION, A TREND INVOLVING OVER 100 MILLION PEOPLE EACH YEAR WITHIN THE COUNTRY. EACH CHINESE PERSON HAS A HUKOU, A HOUSEHOLD REGISTRATION DOCUMENT THAT FUNCTIONS AS AN INTERNAL PASSPORT, THEY ARE ONLY ELIGIBLE TO RETAIN SOCIAL BENEFITS IN THEIR CITY OF ORIGIN.
