4. E. Napp  Philip II was a king of Macedonia. In 338 B.C., he conquered the Greek city-states.  He planned to conquer the Persian Empire.  However, he died.

6. E. Napp Philip’s son, Alexander set out to conquer the world. By 330 B.C., he had conquered the Persian Empire.

7. E. Napp Alexander moved his armies all the way to the Indus River!

8. E. Napp Alexander the Great conquered a vast empire.

9. E. Napp However, once in the Indian subcontinent, Alexander’s men wanted to return home. They were homesick!

10. E. Napp Alexander developed a fever in Babylon in 323 B.C and died.

11. E. Napp  Alexander’s empire fell apart after his death.  His three generals divided the empire into three kingdoms- Macedon, Egypt, and Syria.  These kingdoms often fought each other but they were united by their common Greek culture.

12. E. Napp After the death of Alexander the Great, his vast empire was divided among his generals.

13. E. Napp However, even though the empire fell apart, Alexander had spread Greek culture throughout his empire.
