2 Pennwood Middle School students pledged Monday to continue to make their school a shining star in the No Place for Hate campaign. Kids signed a Resolution of Respect, promising to combat prejudice and bullying. Student representatives of each homeroom at the Pennsbury school submitted the resolutions to Pennwood principal Patricia Steckroat during a pep rally to celebrate the start of the second year of the school’s involvement in the program. The No Place for Hate program was created by the Anti-Defamation League to combat bigotry and intolerance in schools. Pennwood earned a No Place for Hate banner during the 2013-14 school year by staging a Unity Week celebration, televising a student council campaign about cyber-bullying and hosting a presentation for the community about cyber-bullying, the organizers said. Participating in the program has built up the school’s community spirit and cohesiveness, staff and students said. “Everyone is different. It’s not right to point out differences,” said Ali, 13, a Pennwood eighth- grader. “We should be celebrating our differences.”
