1 Doubling through 2 services or sites
MONTH 13 Doubling through 2 services or sites By Dr. Owen Weston DMin, PhD.

2 Month 13 or 2nd year first month We will study:
How to double your crowd with 2 services or with starting a satellite campus Why 2 Services or sites? Double your crowd Double your venue Double your options Double your disciples– workers Reach a new “Demographic” Really conquering your city or area for Christ The right and wrong way of going to 2 Services or 2 sites

3 24 to Double Schedule of Monthly Training 1st Year: 12th Month
What is the next big event on the calendar for which we can challenge our congregation to bring friends? Plan the event (when, what, how, who) How to bring the crowds (from the congregation / marketing) Getting people involved (in production, in preparation) Getting the program ready (who is in charge and who is helping) Getting the people ready (love the visitors)

4 Summary of Month 12 A “Small Group” is any 4 or more persons getting together on a regular basis (at least once a month), to do a ministry or task in which they get to interact with each other It is imperative that the steps necessary to become a disciple and get involved are clearly shown

5 Summary continued Team 6 structured with the 5-fold must be set up to handle Free-market short-term small groups. Long-term groups, lasting a year, like Sunday School, need their own 5-fold in each class.

6 Summary continued Free-market groups can be any ministry, task, activity, small group chosen and completed each semester. Having rallies twice a year after Sunday morning services for the church to sign up for small groups leads to a lot of excitement and energy in the church.

7 Summary continued Youth ministry should be one of the strongest small groups in the church Youth ministry needs to be structure with the 7 teams like the adult church. The youth program needs to be run by the 5-Fold in each team made up of youth with the corresponding gifts. Youth need to run their own program and thereby raise up leaders and future pastors.

8 Month 13 or 2nd year first month Now we will study:
How to double your crowd with 2 services or with starting a satellite campus The right and wrong way of going to 2 Services or 2 sites

9 Why 2 Services or sites? Many pastors struggler with the idea of going to 2 Services or sites? But it is the best way to: Double your crowd (especially at 9:30 and 11:00) Double your venue (traditional vs. contemporary) Double your options (choices for laity) Double your disciples– workers Reach a new “Demographic” across town through “satelliting” - starting another church site.

10 Really conquering your city or area for
Christ will require you to have more than one service and more than one site. Are you happy with the site you presently have defining your ministry effectiveness? Two sites will not only double your effectiveness but double your congregation and income. The more sites the more effective your ministry

11 The right and wrong way to go to 2 services or sites.
You do not offer a second service because you are full, you offer a second service to give laity a choice and to increase your church’s effectiveness. The wrong way is to simple announce you are going to 2 services and then start. This hardly ever works well, unless you are a mega church. The best way takes time and training but is worth the effort and offered at the right time can double your church in every way (souls saved and discipled, numbers attending, ministries, income, etc.)

12 How to go to 2 services or sites
The process of going to 2 services and 2 sites is very similar. The biggest difference is going to a second site requires finding and setting up another location in the area you feel God is asking you to reach. (We will address this as we go). The actual steps for training workers and getting commitments for 2 services is the same for 2 sites

13 The pastor needs to ask key people who he feels will commit to helping get the second service or site running. Normally one third of your regular morning service is needed to have an effective second service or satellite. If your church runs 100 in the main service than 30 will be needed for a second service. Securing signed commitment cards from families who agree they will help start the second service or site for the next 6 months is a must. After 6 months they can go back to the main service or site if they so choose.

14 Having commitments from the full Music Program and Nursery and Children’s Ministry to help with the new service must also be secured by the pastor prior to going to 2 services or sites. Preaching several sermons on the need for the second service and exciting the congregation about the challenge for reaching more people for the Kingdom will help the process. The pastor sitting down with the ministries involved and sharing his heart, will be very important to the success of the new service or site.

15 Running teaser ads several weeks ahead will also excite the congregation that some thing great is about to happen. E.g. “We have the potential of doubling our effectiveness for Christ in this city!” Or “We can offer a whole new venue.”

16 The second service is often offered to have an alternative venue
The second service is often offered to have an alternative venue. One service may be “traditional” and the other “contemporary.” Sometimes another service offers a choice to a different demographic such as young families or “bikers,” etc.

17 Having some practice services before starting a second site is very crucial to the excitement and success of the satellite service. Locating a site with a place to have great children facilities is a must. Training ministry teams for the second service or site will ensure its success (front door team, children and nursery teams, worship teams, follow-up teams, etc.)

18 REVIEW In your hand-outs is a review of all we have covered this past 12 months. Please grade yourselves and see how well you have done. If done well give yourself a “10” for that month. If not great but done “7”. If half done (there but no training or teams) “5”, etc. Next MONTH 14 How to understand how and why these 7 Teams grow the church The Weston Funnel
