ENG2DMrs. DiRinaldo Introduction – a bit about ME Mrs. D’s “Rules” Course Outline Questionnaire Your first assignment
2
Mrs. D’s “Rules” (Fo’ Life) Be on time. Be prepared. Treat every individual in this room with respect and courtesy; be mindful to practice these two qualities in your life and I promise it will take you places. Do not speak when I am teaching. I like to think that I am somewhat of a star on a stage… and there is nothing more rude than an unappreciative audience. No cellphones, iPods, iPads, or iDonotcarewhatelse – if I see one, I get to take it from you for the day. Feel free to eat a snack or have a drink in class but know this: I AM A RECYCLING FANATIC. So, a) clean up your own mess but, b) if I even remotely SEE you put recyclable items IN THE GARBAGE… well, I can’t be held responsible for what I do. MANDATORY: Have a good sense of humour. (Translation: laugh when I think I’m being funny. Like right now.)

O me! O life!... of the questions of these recurring; Of the endless trains of the faithless—of cities fill’d with the foolish; Of myself forever reproaching myself, (for who more foolish than I, and who more faithless?) Of eyes that vainly crave the light—of the objects mean—of the struggle ever renew’d; Of the poor results of all—of the plodding and sordid crowds I see around me; Of the empty and useless years of the rest—with the rest me intertwined; The question, O me! so sad, recurring—What good amid these, O me, O life? Answer. That you are here—that life exists, and identity; That the powerful play goes on, and you will contribute a verse. - Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass
