B UILDING B RIDGES T O O PTIMUM H EALTH A community-academic partnership dedicated to convening community-driven knowledge- transfer activities The thread weaving the numerous community town hall meetings, community symposiums, and community conferences Each endeavor is based on a framework of Community-Partnered Participatory Strategies of Engagement We honor the vision of Ms. Loretta Jones for conceptualizing this theme and her passion for partnered action

T HE C OMMUNITY -P ARTNERED P ARTICIPATORY S TRATEGY 1. Identifies a health issue that fits community priorities and academic capacity to respond 2. Develops a coalition of community, policy and academic stakeholders that informs, supports, shares and uses the products 3. Engages the community through conferences and workshops that provide information, determine readiness to proceed, and invites input 4. W ORLD K IDNEY D AY 2010 Represents the 4 rd consecutive year that the Building Bridges to Optimum Health partners have sponsored this event The planning of World Kidney Day 2010 is the result of a Conference Planning Committee, comprised of: Community agencies and community members Patients affected by Kidney Disease Academic faculty Medical and social agencies

W ORLD K IDNEY D AY 2010 Conference program topics and speakers reflect: Input from the Planning Committee Guidance from feedback gained from evaluations of participants from the prior year’s conference
