Abraham & Abimelech Abraham again fears and he resorts to his own plan. God intervenes and protects Sarah. Abraham gives reason for his lie. Abraham prays and God restores Abimelech, his wife, and his servants. Abraham & Abimelech enter into a covenant of peace together.

God’s Faithfulness to His Word 1)The Lord visited Sarah just as he said he would – God is merciful. 2)The Lord did unto Sarah just as he had promised–God is faithful & unchanging. 3)The Lord miraculously allowed Sarah to give birth to a son, at the specific time God had said.

Abraham’s Faithful Obedience to God’s Word 1)Abraham named the child Isaac, just as God had said. 2)Abraham circumcised Isaac at eight days just as God had said.

Ishmael or Isaac? Sarah calls for action demonstrating the covenant is through Isaac alone. Abraham is distressed over her request and the situation. God reaffirms that the promise and covenant will be through Isaac Not Ishmael. In mercy, God protects Hagar & Ishmael just as he promised.

Truths of God and His Promises 1)God is always faithful to his Word – God always does what he said he will do. 2)God works according to his timetable not ours – he is never too early or late – he arrives precisely when he intends to. 3)God works in very specific ways in order to maximize his glory.
