But the tree of knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for the day that you eat of it you shall surely die” Genesis 2 16-17 Satan; “…has God indeed said?” “You will not surely die…”

R UPTURES THE R ELATIONSHIP BETWEEN G OD AND M AN VV. 8-16, 23-24 “In the day you eat of the fruit, you shall die” Sin leads to shame, guilt and fear “Therefore, the LORD God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken. So he drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of Garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.” vv 23-24

It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.” Genesis 3: 17-19
