Economics and the Atlantic The Triangle Trade The Triangle Trade Sugar, rum, cod were shipped to Europe and exchanged for silver, trinkets were shipped to Africa and exchanged for slaves who were then sent to the Americas…. (oversimplification but..) Mercantilism Mercantilism European monarchs used raw materials from colonies to manufacture goods they would sell on the global scale Govts taxed imported products from rival nations Govts also went into business with private companies The corporations created their own laws
