Seismological Data Management at IAG-USP - Brazil Short Presentation @ SEISCOMP 3: USERS GROUP MEETING 2010 Bruno Collaço (iag-usp) September, 2010
2
IAG-USP until 2008: - about 60 temporary stations (BB & SP seismometers) at whole country. - most of them operating about > 2 years IAG-USP stations until 2010
3
- large amount of data stored in different disks without a properly structured database. - a lot of time and money were spent updating computer systems, disk storages and routine back-ups whithout prevent data loss. - very hard access and share of IAG- USP data between institutions and researchers. peachtreearchives.com IAG-USP until 2008:

THE BRASIS PROJECT The Seismographic Integrated Network of Brazil (BRASIS) will be implemented by four institutions. The BRASIS project will continously monitor the brazilian seismic activity by 60 broad-band stations. BRASIS will provide waveform data in real-time, freely accessable by any brazilian researcher, encouraging scientific research and a better knowledge of brazilian seismicity, seismic risk and the structure of the crust and upper mantle. IAG-USP 2010:

THE BRASIS PROJECT: IAG-USP technicians will install 30 stations in the whole country. BRASIS will work with Nanometrics equipaments (recently delivered): Trillium 120P Sensors; Taurus Dataloggers; Trillium / Taurus - nanometrics.ca VABB: Reftek DAS 130 / RT 151 RCLB: Guralp DM-24 / CMG3E

THE BRASIS PROJECT:
7
- datacenter infrastructure - realtime data acquisition & processing - seedLink, arcLink & SeisComP3 - modular arrangement of processing components IAG-USP RealTime Data Processing: DataCenter node model
8
SC3 IS READY TO RECEIVE OUR STATIONS!

Future Projects: Geophysical OpenSource SDI - SeisComP3 QuakeML implementation using PostGIS database extensions could be merged to provide other data products. - It was prototyped an OpenSource Spatial Data Infrastructure to serve and maintain some related data layers consumed and produced by us using OGC standard formats (WMS/WFS/GeoSciML).
