(Germany/Austria-Hungary) There were few Armenian-Russians fighting against the Ottoman’s using it as a reason to exterminate the Armenian race. The Ottoman Empire was trying to spread the Muslim religion and the Armenians were CHRISTIANS. The Ottoman Empire also wanted Armenia’s natural barrier to Russia’s attacks. (Eastern Turkey belongs to Armenia). The able bodied men will be targeted.

When the Armenians protested repressive Ottoman policies, the Sultan had tens of thousands of them slaughtered. More than 2 million Armenians lived in Turkey before the Genocide. 600,000-1,500,000 people killed from disease/starvation. The rest were driven from their ancestral home through deportation in the deserts with out food and water The Muslim Turks ACCUSED the Christian Armenians of supporting Russian plans against the Ottoman Empire. 7 What do they think? Unfortunately, most of the perpetrators were FREED, despite pledges by the Allies to punish them. The Republic of Turkey still maintains that the deportation of the Turkish Armenian population during WWI was for civil unrest and NOT genocide. The only reason Turkey is not part of Europe is because they do not recognize the genocide actually happened.
