Socks are Stocking for the foot and lower part of the leg, typically knitted from wool, cotton, or nylon. The undergarment for the foot

Don’t let your feet be naked No article of clothing has been more taken for granted then the foot warming, soft feeling, and stylish socks. Socks are used everywhere from wearing it on your feet to keeping your hands warm on a frigid and cold winter night.

But who invented it?  This guy? It is believed that as early as the stone ages the useful yet often overlooked article of clothing was created … The SOCK Beginning with the Cavemen who wore animal hide on their feet to protect from the harsh turf.

Significant “footsteps” in History Stone Ages Cavemen wore animal hides that covered the foot and were tied around the ankle. Romans began wrapping their feet with leather strips or woven fabric. The hose which covered the legs became longer and eventually was combined with the sock to make longer socks, called the stockings.

Significant “footsteps” in History part 2 Scotland1589 William Lee of Nottinghamshire, England invented a sock knitting machine that started to make hosiery. This allowed bright colored socks to be produced easier and cheaper. 16 th and 17 th century Europe With the New World discovery, Spanish cloth was beautiful fabric, adorned with embroidery and fine jewels. All of this used in the creation of socks. Cotton was integrated in the making of the sock.

Improvements From animal hide to leather strips, woven fabric, and cotton; the most innovating change to the sock was the creation of polymer 6.6, Nylon. Animal Hide?!

Julian Hill was one of the scientists at Du Pont Company that discovered by pulling a heated rod from a mixture of coal tar, water and alcohol he could create a filament that was strong, sheer, and silk-like in appearance. He patented the creation in 1937 and tribute his work to his late boss. Nylon gave strength in elasticity and comfort in silk like appearance.

No Ordinary Sock People wear the plain basic colors of white and black socks, fun bright and colorful socks, toe split socks, stylish argyle socks, Catholic purple socks for the Bishops, and white socks for the Pope. Poor or rich, anyone can appreciate the usefulness of the sock.
