Big Ideas of Phase ll Students draw from the research and skills developed during the first semester Create a two-part media campaign for the San Diego Green Schools 2010 Youth Forum.

Students Continue to Learn About: environmental initiatives focusing on the role politics plays in passing initiatives develop advertising campaigns forum presentations that synthesize their research industry standards exposing them to career pathways.

The Project Students choose environmental issues studied with Surfrider Using this information study the politics surrounding the initiatives understand initiative process develop media campaigns for a environmental policy

The Culminating Event/Public Exhibition Event for San Diego Green Schools Youth Forum First Part create and disseminate an advertising campaign for the April event Second Part day of the event, students are forum presenters IT support videographers photographers event coordinators

Beyond the Classroom Groups connected to the project include: City of San Diego Environmental Services office Industry Professionals such as Graphic Designers Event Planners, Copy Writers, Client from Semester I - Surfrider Political Parties-Democratic, Republican, & Green District Communications office

Project Driving Question What elements are necessary to produce a county- wide youth event? What actions can students take to affect change in their communities?
