Grid Computing, B. Wilkinson, 200411b.1 National Science Foundation Middleware Initiative (NMI) Started in 2001 initially over 3 years “to create and deploy advanced network services that simplify access to diverse Internet information and services.” Provides a centralized location for important grid software. Current NMI package includes Globus, Condor, MPI-G2, and a new grid portal project called OGCEGrid (funding started Sept 2003).

Grid Computing, B. Wilkinson, 200411b.2 Consortium established “Fall 2003 to foster collaborations and shareable components with portal developers worldwide” The following screenshots taken from http://www.ogce.org

Grid Computing, B. Wilkinson, 200411b.3 Membership: Join and participate in different topic groups (Group tabs across the top).

Grid Computing, B. Wilkinson, 200411b.4 Schedule: Maintain a personal or group calendar.

Grid Computing, B. Wilkinson, 200411b.5 Resources: Users and groups can upload and share documents and URLs.

Grid Computing, B. Wilkinson, 200411b.6 Discussion: Participate in discussions with other members of your group

Grid Computing, B. Wilkinson, 200411b.7 Chat: Engage other members of your group in online discussion.

Grid Computing, B. Wilkinson, 200411b.8 Proxy Manager and Job Submit: Obtain and manage Grid credentials that can be used to access Grid resources through your browser. Also shown are GRAM job launchers and sample "ping" portlet.

Grid Computing, B. Wilkinson, 200411b.9 LDAP Browser: Navigate the LDAP server of your choice.

Grid Computing, B. Wilkinson, 200411b.10 Grid FTP: Use your Grid credential to browse remote directories and to upload and download files between your desktop and a remote host.

Grid Computing, B. Wilkinson, 200411b.11 Grid Context: Store arbitrary web objects (movies, web pages, audio files) in a customizable, annotated directory tree.

Grid Computing, B. Wilkinson, 200411b.12 GridPort Information Repository Portlets: Several GPIR portlets are available for browsing Machine Summaries, System Status, and Total Grid Capabilities. System status portlet shown.

Grid Computing, B. Wilkinson, 200411b.13 GridPort Job Sequencing Portlets Portlets allow you to set up sequences of jobs through a CSF scheduler.

Grid Computing, B. Wilkinson, 200411b.14 Anabas Impromptu: The portal includes a window to the Anabas Impromptu system for real time shared display, audio, and chats.

Grid Computing, B. Wilkinson, 200411b.15 Newsgroups: Portlets allow users to participate in and administer online newsgroup.

Grid Computing, B. Wilkinson, 200411b.16 OGRE Demo: Portlet demonstrates the use of OGRE for job management.

Grid Computing, B. Wilkinson, 200411b.17 Java CoG Workflow: Portlet allows you to set up a Java CoG-based Workflow.

Grid Computing, B. Wilkinson, 200411b.18 Application Management: Portlets demonstrate how to develop a simple application management interface around MyProxy, GRAM, and GridFTP.

Grid Computing, B. Wilkinson, 200411b.19 Condor Portlets: Portlets allow you to submit and monitor jobs through Condor.
