Vocabulary Hat Parade We will be having a vocabulary hat parade on February 21st. Here are some ideas to get you started thinking about what you want to do!

Your first step… Think of an interesting word you want to study. It can be a word you saw in a book or a word from Science, Social Studies or Math. If you can’t decide on a word, your teacher can help you. celebrate

Your next step… After studying your new word, plan on how you will represent the word by decorating a hat. You will need to turn in your planning sheet on January 31st. Proboscis Monstrous

Vocabulary Parade! You’ll take home some directions to help you with your creation! Will your hat be… Creative? Humorous (funny)? A difficult word? Interesting ? Remember, your hat should be creative, not COSTLY! Use things from home to create your project.

On the day of the presentation…
Vocabulary Parade! On the day of the presentation… Make sure… Your word is spelled correctly and visible somewhere on the hat or you can hang it around your neck. You are prepared to give information on your word (meaning, part of speech).

Vocabulary Parade! Be REALLY Creative! You can use a literal representation or figurative representation of your word. There are many costumes ideas online to inspire you. Pedestrian Fantasy and Spring Titanic

On February 21st, we will parade with pride!
Vocabulary Parade! On February 21st, we will parade with pride! You will march in the cafeteria proudly holding your head up and showing off your word! You will look closely at all of the other marchers so you can learn some new vocabulary words. You will need to learn at least 3 new words! You will be respectful of others as they march. Enjoy the parade!

Vocabulary Parade! Before the parade, you will present your word to your class. You will need to tell: The meaning of your word. Part of speech. Any interesting fact your learned about your word.

Vocabulary Parade! You will have learned some new words! When you get back to class, you will tell your teacher 3 new words you have learned and have added to your vocabulary! Try to use those new words when you are writing and talking to others. You will sound very knowledgeable, intelligent, erudite, and just plain SMART!
