Math Fact of the Day: Order of Operations PEMDAS: Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, and Subtraction EX: 1. Look in Parenthesis, can you add x and 3? NO 5(x + 3)(x + 3) 2. Next look at exponents, squared means to write it twice. 3. Multiply using foil or the generic rectangle 4. Multiply everything by 5

Math Strategy of the Day: Vocab We are going to practice some common ACT math vocabulary today. In some instances you know how to do the “math”, but don’t understand what the question is asking. We are hoping to tackle this by reviewing some math vocabulary through a BINGO game.

Math Vocab BINGO Students will each be given a MATH BINGO board. Teachers will use their Glossary of Terms page to randomly pick out definitions to read. Be sure to ONLY read the definition and check off the words that you have called out. Students will mark out the corresponding vocab word that matches the definition called out by the teacher. 5 spaces horizontally, vertically, and diagonally win a BINGO.

Glossary of Common Terms At the end of the game be sure to pass out the Glossary of Common Terms to students. Use this sheet as a study guide before you take the ACT. Be sure to ask about any terms on the sheet that you are still unsure about.

Vocab Basics Students will work through the vocab basics sheet to test their vocabulary skills from the BINGO Activity. Students can check in with their Advisor to see if they have mastered their vocabulary skills for the ACT. On the back of the sheet you can check out the Calculator tips for LCM and GCF!

Math Fact of the Day Part 2: Properties of Parallel Lines Students need to sheet on Properties of Parallel Lines. If two parallel lines are intersected by a third line (transversal), then the corresponding angles are congruent (equal). Students need to complete the Parallel Lines problems and check in with their Advisors for solutions.

ACT Mathematics Overview Choose multiple students to read items from the bulleted list. Discuss how these items will be beneficial when taking the ACT on March 6 th.
