There are many touristic places which surprise tourists in Jordan by it ferly and beauty. One of these most beautiful places is Petra that curved in rock. Petra was an important cultural crossroads between Arabia,Egypt and Syria-Phoenicia. The Nabateans built the city in 500 BC. over the centuries it traded with Arabs,Assyrians, Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. The Romans come to Petra in 106 AD, and in 363 AD an earthquake destroyed many buildings.In the 19 century tourists started visiting it. The Petra is won in the contest seventh wonders of the World after the formal support for voting. The Petra is caved in the rock and it lies behind mountains very big and it is difficult to cross it. and the siq it is narrow aisle has sides over peered is by rapt difficult allow the sunrays to pass, and in the siq end natural medan include khazneh illustrious to Petra is caved in the rock and is the aglow under the sunrays.

When the Romans defeated the Nabataeans in 106 AD, they rebuilt the outer wall of the theatre, added Roman columns to the stage, displayed marble statues in niches, and expanded the seating to the current number of 8,000. During excavations, complete statues of Hercules and Aphrodite were discovered in 1961 under the stage.

This is the best – known building in Petra. Its decorated front is carved out of a high sandstone cliff. Inside, it is not decorated – there is a large square room and smaller empty rooms. The Nabataeans cut this Amphitheater out of the rock around the time of Christ. It originally had 11 rows with 300 seats. The Petra Church seems to have first been built over Nabataean and Roman remains around 450 AD. These fantastic decorated tombs are carved into the rock face. There was a 30-minute climb but the views were brilliant – you really feel the atmosphere of the place.
