The first tool I will cover is the SSCT, the Standalone Solutions Configuration Tool. The SSCT is used Worldwide for IBM and Partner sales teams. Although in the US and Canada when coming to IBM to build and fulfill the order, the user must use either e-config or Blue Horizon. In the US and Canada and fulfilling through the Distributor channel, the user must use the SSCT. The SSCT is designed for use by novice users all the way through expert users.
For simple product configurations it is recommended you use the Web-based IBM Hardware configurator.
The IBM Hardware Configurator is a Web-based tool that is used to build simple product configurations. It’s also called Blue Horizon. In Americas you can build simple to complex configurations with Release 3. In EMEA, the Release 1 is available with varying functionality available. This is to accommodate the different manufacturing capabilities that vary from country to country. 34
