5. Affirmative: Regular Forms
Use an affirmative command when you tell someone to do something Use the 3rd person singular of the verb (él, ella, usted form) Cantar = Canta Beber = Bebe Escribir = Escribe

6. Affirmative: Irregular Forms
Decir = Di Poner = Pon
Hacer = Haz Salir = Sal
Ir = Ve Tener = Ten
Ser = Sé Venir = Ven

7. Affirmative: Pronoun Placement
Attach pronouns to the end of the command form.
You may need to add an accent mark (on the next to the last syllable of the original command form)

8. Negative: Regular Forms
Use a negative command when you want to tell someone NOT to do something Use the “tú” form of the subjunctive. Cantar = No cantes Beber = No bebas Escribir = No escribas
The subjunctive is another set of verb tenses. We will learn how to form this tense after we finish the foldable.

9. Negative: Irregular Forms
Dar = No des
Estar = No estés
Ir = No vayas
Ser = No seas
[Note that none of these have
“yo” forms that end in “o”]

10. Negative: Pronoun Placement
With negative commands, the pronoun comes before the verb.
No la cantes
No lo bebas
No te levantes

11. You will learn more about how to use the subjunctive tense next year in Spanish 3. But for now you need to know how to form it to make negative “tú” commands. Here’s a little something to help you remember how to form the subjunctive.
