Step 1: Click “Create Account” and fill in all of the information on the page. An example is shown below:

Step 2: On the next page, you have the option to add a profile picture to your new account. Afterwards, click “Next Step” to move onto the next page. An example is shown below:

Step 3: Now your profile is created! Click “Back to YouTube”

Step 4: Now that you are registered with YouTube, you can get started using YouTube by browsing categories to find interesting channels, subscribing to channels and adding them to your homepage, and viewing your homepage to see the activity from your subscriptions.

Click ‘Upload’ in the upper right hand corner. You can upload multiple files, record a video from a webcam, or select a file from the computer. This is the page you should see:

Under the uploading forum, there is a bullet that says “Help and Suggestions.” To the right of it, there is a link that says ‘Uploading Help.” Click it, and you will see this screen:

Can upload large files, up to 20GB in size Ability to resume or recover stalled or cancelled uploads Anything can be uploaded, no approval is necessary; this is what makes YouTube a unique search engine. When using TeacherTube, approval is necessary and there are restrictions on the type of information that can be uploaded. YouTube is open to anyone and anything can be added- opposite for TeacherTube. Anyone can use YouTube and it is not required to make an account to search the website.

Create a YouTube account and search the site! When you are done, share with the class any channels you subscribed to or a video you discovered and one thing you learned about YouTube that you did not know before.
